Soil testing: Just because a garden appears to be doing well doesn’t mean it’s safe or that it can’t be more productive Â
It’s been a difficult start to the year for everyone, compounded by the winter weather, but gardeners are made of ‘stern stuff’, so its time to look forward to another successful gardening year!Â
Firstly, just a reminder, seed and plant suppliers were swamped with orders last spring with the increased interest in gardening, lockdowns etc. so get those orders in early!
Wash down and clean inside and outside of greenhouses to improve light transmission and dispose of pests & diseases. Wash and clean all your seed trays and pots too.
February is with us, bringing hopes of an early spring to brighten what has been a difficult winter! Strange though, how through the last couple of years, our gardens have proved to be our inspiration and salvation.Â
February already and hopefully spring is not too far away! January gave us some cold weather but in most parts of the country it gave us what we really wanted – much-needed rainfall, to refill our reservoirs and bring much-needed moisture to our dry autumn gardens.
