Lawns – so it’s a busy time on your lawn in October, but here’s a tip to make life easier! For those final mowings of the season, use the mower to shred the leaves and add organic humus to the lawn – it saves you the problem of sweeping them up!
November is a good time for contemplation. Take a good luck at your lawns. Happy with them? If not, look at an action plan for next year in terms of what needs doing and when.
There are some good companies operating nationally who will come and renovate your lawn and carry out all maintenance leaving you to do just the mowing to do!
It’s hard to believe that November and the subsequent winter is galloping up on us! But it’s not time yet for those fireside slippers! Although October was busy, there is still plenty to do - unless you have already stored all the remaining fruit and vegetables and prepared your garden for those winter months.
Autumn is with us and let’s hope the good weather continues, to raise our spirits and shorten the winter!
Wash down and clean inside and outside of greenhouses to improve light transmission and dispose of pests & diseases. Wash and clean all your seed trays and pots too. Clear all weeds from the garden – a clean start will pay dividends!
February is with us, bringing hopes of an early spring to brighten what has been a difficult winter! Strange though, how through the last couple of years, our gardens have proved to be our inspiration and salvation.
October already and the nights are drawing in! How did the summer pass so quickly? Again this year the weather has not been easy for us gardeners! Autumn though can be an incredible time, with superb autumn colour from our trees and shrubs, heavy dews on our lawns and night frosts as the first signs of winter.
‘Flaming June’ approaches and suddenly we are half way through the year already!
